Yesterday's performance at Liang Court (5pm) was quite special. It was during the midst of a Glamour Kiddies' event, which involved a Best Dressed and Talent Contest, showcasing some very talented children who could do plenty of things even we adults had trouble doing! Two of them did some acrobatics like cartwheels (!) and somersaults (!!), one of them played "It's a Small World" on the keyboard - with her feet not even touching the floor when she sat at the keyboard (!!!) and the eventual winner sang a song by Alicia Keys (!!!!). It was a pleasure to watch them strut their stuff, and it only proves that the sky's the limit for children when given sufficient training and sufficient parental support.
I took the stage after Celin's typically precise renditions of "Lydia" and "Why Did You Lie?", and the two songs I sang were English oldie "Heaven Knows" and a new Chinese song "Baby" (dedicated, of course, to the young children who illuminated the crowd with their innocence and talent). The reception was amazingly encouraging - a group of around eight people seated at the food court near stage right actually applauded me when I was only two lines into my song! Even a group of women wearing some sort of uniform (I think they were either the food sellers or the cleaning crew) seated to their right joined in as well to make my experience on stage a very pleasant one. Thanks for your enthusiastic support...I hope to be able to perform there again.
Hope to see all of you during future RIG events, and bye for now!
Cheerio,
MK 2010 :)
